Comments
Beer for bourbon-lovers
Pours a transparent ruby red amber with a thin bubbly head. Light lacing and very little attention.
Strong caramel and bready malt aromas, as well as some nice woody notes from the bourbon barrel. Oak, vanilla, and a light smokiness.
The malt in the nose is equally strong in the flavor, and the woody bourbon barrel flavors provide a very nice balance. The spicy smokiness that is a characteristic of (especially non-wheated) bourbons is present, but turned down enough to balance the malts without overwhelming. Overall bitterness is medium low, as is the aftertaste.
A medium light body and a low enough carbonation to keep it nice and smooth.
Enough of a beer to satisfy beer drinkers, and enough bourbon flavors to satisfy bourbon drinkers. But most importantly the flavors are nicely balanced and tasty.
